Mrs. Doris Stirling Watson 89 of Frederick went home to the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 18. She was the devoted wife of Larry M. Watson. They were married October 6, 1940 at the Throggs Neck Presbyterian Church, Throggs Neck, New York.Born October 5, 1919 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine Margaret Stirling Bradbury. They moved with their family, to the United States in 1926.Doris was gentle and loving and very devoted to her husband and family. She was very kind, easy to be with and had a keen sense of humor. After Doris graduated from James Monroe High School in Bronx, NY, she worked for five years as a policy rater for the Royal Indemnity Insurance Co. in New York City. When her children started school, Doris returned to work as an Office Manager in the Medical field. She worked in Long Island, NY and part time in Crofton MD over twenty five years. Although Doris accomplished many things in her life and was active in many organizations, Doris' life was centered around her love for God, her church and her love for her family and friends. Doris made each day special and each day was filled with her love. Doris was an inspiration to the many lives she touched. She was a Deacon and volunteer for many years at the Frederick Presbyterian Church.Surviving in addition to her husband are four children: Doris Lynne Thomas and Don of Taneytown, Dayle Margaret Good of Frederick, Jayne Beverly Bongard and John of New Market and Nancy Maher and Stephen Hartten of Myersville; eight grandchildren: Laura Schneider, Lawrence Thomas, John Bongard III, SFC Dayle Matus, US Army, Christa Oakley, Karen Good, Nancy Good and Michael Maher; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Mervyn Bradbury and Philip Bradbury; two sisters: Margaret Jean Bradbury and Phyllis Goldbach; and a dear son-in-law: Ronald Good.

Saturday Road Trip

On Saturday, 7/18, my parents, Buddy, Tyler, Jilli and I went for a little road trip. Our first stop was the Homosassa Butterfly Attraction. What a neat experience that was. After a brief movie explaining the life cycle of a butterfly, they walk you around and show you live caterpillars, eggs, crysalis's and butterflies. Then, you get to go out in to the live habitat, where they give you a butterfly to let free. It's amazing how you can pick up the butterflies ever so gently by the wings and then just hold them in your hand (or shirt or head as you'll see in the pics) It is such a beautiful experience. I highly recommend it to everyone.

After the Butterfly Attraction we headed over to Rainbow Springs. The waterfalls were so beautiful to look at and relaxing to listen to. After we walked around a bit to see the sights, including an outdoor butterfly garden, my Dad, Buddy, Tyler and Jilli all went swimming in the springs for a bit.
